Tales of Monkey Island - Review

Tales of Monkey Island
Ages: RP- Everyone 10+

Guybrush Threepwood, The Guy you might have known from the old LucasArts games The Secret of Monkey Island and The Curse of Monkey Island has returned. This time to do battle with the evil pirate Le Chuck, and to rescue his beloved wife Elaine from his clutches, find a cure for the Voodoo Pox, avoid the gnashing teeth of a malevolent skull, match swords with the lady pirate Morgan and much much more. It takes five episodes to spinout the adventure. The graphics and the artwork for the characters are refreshingly creative, the story outrageous, and the humor constant. Good as only a game can be with the Telltale and LucasArts crew manning the rudder.

Telltale Games makes episodic games. I find it hard to endure the waiting for each cliffhanging episode, so I wait until they are all out. The full Tales of Monkey Island series can be purchased for $34.95. Individual episodes can be purchased for $8.95 each on the Telltale website at http://www.telltalegames.com/monkeyisland. The site also has synopses of all the chapters and walkthroughs. They treat their gamers well.

Fun Factor: More than a barrel full of monkeys
Female Factor: Morgan, the female pirate is pretty feisty
