Imagine - Ballet Star - Review

Imagine - Ballet Star
Ages: Everyone

It's last year's game, but your young ballerina will love it if you can find it for her. Starts with entering a school, where you choose to be one of four ballerinas. Players will attend classes, practice dance moves, learn new routines and perform in recitals.

Moving the stylus in different patterns will translate to the ballerina performing plies, arabesques, pirouettes, and pique tourne. When the steps are performed correctly they will be linked into a routine. Do well and stars and glitter rain down, do poorly and the figure stumbles but then recovers to bow. There is plenty of play, classical music and the steps are named in French.

Eventually there will be partnering, performances, different costumes and, if that isn't enough, there is a whole town to explore besides the ballet studio - your home, the arcade, park, shop, school and two diners just as a start.

Other professions in this series are movie star, teacher, figure skater, champion rider and fashion designer. Ubisoft seems somewhat ashamed of the product line so you may have a hard time finding it. They're about girls - so persevere.

Fun Factor: Many nice touches. The ballerinas are charming. Stunning dance animation.
Female Factor: It's a woman's/girls world
Player Friendly: Saves upon exiting. Excellent manual.
