The Biggest Loser - Review

The Biggest Loser
Ages: Everyone

I have never see the video show, don't know who this Jillian person but have used Wii Fit intermittently over two years, and while I will still stick with the kinder, gentler Wii Fit, if you are interested in losing weight - Biggest Loser is the way to go because it uses both diet and exercise.

Exercise routines cover lower body, upper body, core, cardio, whole body, yoga and includes warm-up and cool-down. You check in with personal information, age, weight and what you wish to accomplish within the timeframe (between 4 to 12 weeks) you have selected. If you are using the program with the Wii Balance Board it will enter your weight automatically, but you do not have to use the board. You choose an avatar - it is always distressingly overweight; your trainer, either Jillian or Bob, and you are assigned your suggested daily caloric intake. Yes, it's less than 2000. You exercise along with your trainer and your fat avatar and get encouragement, and at the conclusion are rated as to how well you do. A whole body routine takes about 15 - 20 minutes and contains about ten different exercises divided between strengthening, cardio and stretching.

On an important note, while the exercises are rated on difficulty, they do not make accommodations for any peculiarity or infirmities you might have. I am careful doing knee exercises, and jumping jacks are out; I have never been able to do push-ups and use other core exercises. I highly recommend making your own exercise routine and the program permits that.

It is in the diet and food section that this program really shines. There is an ongoing daily calorie counter, good and simple recipes, and the tips and true and false questions give good information. It will work if you will work - there are no cheats for this game.

There is a DS version which is reviewed separately and was the first version I played. It is the mighty little sister to this one. You might want to check it out.

Fun Factor: It works - You want fun too?
Female Factor: A good mix of m/f
Player Friendly: Easy to use - good organization.
