Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure - Review

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure
Ages: General Audience

The rich colors of autumns are dazzling on Blu-ray and we have returned to the magical depths of Pixie Hollow. Tink is back for the fall season. All the fairies are spreading the fall colors, gathering in the harvest in preparation for the festival of blue moon - a special time for the collecting of fairy dust - which is the fairies' source of magical energy. Tink is entrusted with fabricating the scepter holding the moonstone that is necessary to turn moonbeams into fairy dust. Tink gets busy, making drawings, measuring, working metal. It smart that Disney made Tink, a tinkerer - a character who is inventive, has mechanical ability, knows how to handle tools and makes things.

To thicken the plot - the invaluable moonstone has to break, Tink blames it all on her friend Terrance who has only been trying to help and they part in anger. This sets Tink on a journey far, far from Pixie Hollow to find a Magic Mirror that has one remaining wish she can use to reconstruct the moonstone.

The story ends on a very clever solution and Tink learns not to blame someone else for mistakes she is responsible for. A good lesson for the "You made me do it" crowd.

As for the bonuses, the most unusual one is "Pixie Hollow Comes to Walt Disney World", showing how topiary forms of the characters were constructed in Epcot - the wire armatures, watering system and finally the moss and flowers. Kids will probably enjoy the pixie Hollow tour and the goofs. The deleted scenes give a chance for Klay Hall and Sean Lurie to expound on the art. And in passing, if you look at the back of the box all sorts of things light up - a nice touch.

Can we wait for winter?

Fun Factor: An autumn treat
